Project Overview
A selection of professional work exploring the development of garment trims, hardware and material details for international fashion brands.
Working within trim development at SAB, I contributed to projects for brands including Tommy Hilfiger, Calvin Klein, ASICS and Moncler, combining design considerations with technical requirements, material selection and manufacturing processes.
My Role
Trim Development · Design Development · Material Research · Supplier Communication · Sampling · Product Detailing
Development of original hardware concepts for SAB’s internal collection and brand-specific projects, translating creative briefs and collection direction into functional trim designs. Responsibilities included concept exploration, technical drawings in Adobe Illustrator, 3D modelling in Rhino, material research and preparation of technical artwork for internal review and sampling.
Development Process
01 / DESIGN & RESEARCH
Exploring trim concepts, finishes, materials and visual references in response to brand identity and product requirements.
02 / MATERIAL & COMPONENT DEVELOPMENT
Considering the relationship between material properties, appearance, functionality and manufacturing possibilities in the development of garment components.
03 / SAMPLING & REFINEMENT
Reviewing development samples and communicating adjustments to support the intended design, finish and product quality.
04 / SUPPLIER COLLABORATION
Working with suppliers and internal teams to coordinate development requirements, technical information and sampling progress.
Reflection
Trim development demonstrates how small components can have a significant influence on the identity, functionality and perceived quality of a product.
This work strengthened my understanding of the relationship between creative direction, material selection and the technical considerations involved in developing commercially viable garment details.
