TECHNICAL DEVELOPMENT & FIT

Technical Development, Garment Fit, Quality Control, Construction Assessment, Technical Specifications, Supplier Communication

Project Overview

A selection of technical developments from my freelance role as a Technical Product Developer & Quality Controllerwithin Shoeby's womenswear team.

Working in a fast-paced commercial environment, I assessed garment samples, conducted fit sessions and evaluated fit, fabric behaviour, construction and production quality.

Collaborating with design, product development teams and suppliers, I translated design concepts into commercially viable, production-ready garments through technical corrections, specification development and supplier communication.

Approach

01 / FIT & PROPORTION

Refining garment balance, silhouette and fit through sample assessment and fit sessions.

02 / FABRIC & MATERIALS

Evaluating fabric behaviour, structure and suitability in relation to design intent and garment performance.

03 / TECHNICAL DEVELOPMENT

Translating fit observations into technical specifications, measurement adjustments and construction improvements.

04 / PRODUCTION COMMUNICATION

Communicating technical corrections through detailed fit comments, specification reviews and supplier feedback.

Reflection

This experience strengthened my ability to balance creative design intent with technical feasibility and commercial production requirements. Leading fit sessions across multiple womenswear categories, I identified and resolved fit, fabric and construction challenges, developing practical solutions while maintaining product quality and consistency.
