SAB — COLOUR FORECASTING & TRIM STRATEGY
AW27 | Trend Research · Colour Direction · Product Application
Project Overview
A forward-looking colour forecasting project developed for SAB to anticipate seasonal trends and support trim development for key fashion clients over a 12–24 month horizon.
Using Tommy Hilfiger as a brand-specific case study, I analysed runway trends, consumer behaviour, competitor positioning and evolving brand colour palettes to identify commercially relevant colour directions.
The research was translated into core, seasonal and accent colour strategies, supported by garment illustrations demonstrating potential applications across product categories.
The objective was not to design a final apparel collection, but to establish a colour framework that could inform future trim development, material finishes and complementary hardware colours aligned with client collections.
Approach
01 / TREND & MARKET RESEARCH
Analysing runway collections, consumer trends and competitor colour directions to identify emerging commercial opportunities.
02 / BRAND COLOUR ANALYSIS
Examining Tommy Hilfiger's evolving colour identity to balance recognisable heritage colours with new seasonal directions.
03 / COLOUR STRATEGY
Developing core, seasonal and accent palettes with Pantone references and category-specific colour allocations.
04 / PRODUCT & TRIM APPLICATION
Applying proposed colours to illustrative garment ranges to explore potential product directions and inform complementary trim colours, finishes and hardware development.
Project Outcome
A strategic colour reference designed to support SAB's future trim development and client presentations, connecting trend forecasting with commercially relevant product and component opportunities.
